Dolpa is the largest district and is located in the west northern part of Nepal. Dolpa is a famous destination for your rural and remote trekking adventure. The Dolpo Trek Nepal is for real adventures wishing for an off-the-beaten-path lifetime experience. It was opened to visit foreigners only in 1990. You can do trekking adventures with special and restricted area entry trekking permits in the Dolpo region. The trek follows a remote and rugged protected area, admiring the beautiful rain shadow landscape of the Himalayas.

There are two parts of the Dolpa district, Upper Dolpo and Lower Dolpo. The Upper Dolpo is a restricted area, therefore, you need a restricted area entry permit to visit Upper Dolpo. The lower Dolpo circuit area is special so you need Special Permit to visit Lower Dolpo Trek. Upper Dolpo and Upper Mustang are restricted areas of Nepal. The restricted area permits are issued by the Immigration Office in Kathmandu. You can't apply for restricted area permits yourself and are not allowed to travel alone (solo trekkers). Therefore these types of trekking permits must be done by the government-registered trekking company in Nepal. You can contact us, Himalaya Darshan Treks can do this for you.


Dolpo Trek Permit Requirement

  • The restricted area permits are issued by the Immigration Office in Kathmandu.
  • Dolpo Trek Permit must be processed through a valid local trekking agency registered by the Nepal government.
  • You will need a minimum of two trekkers in a group.
  • Required your original passport with a valid visa from Nepal.
  • You should trek with a registered trekking guide. (You will be able to get the safety and more information about the areas, cultural and local knowledge)

Dolpo Trek Permit Cost

  • The Upper Dolpo Trek Permit Cost is USD 500 per person (for the first 10 days). Likewise, USD 50 per person, per day. Beyond 10 days. The area of Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality (All areas of wards no. 4 to 6) and Shey Phoksundo Rural Municipality (All areas of wards no. 1 to 7). Similarly, Charka Tangsong Rural Municipality (All areas of wards no. 1 to 6)
  • The Lower DolpoTrek Permit Trek Cost is -USD 20 per person for a week -USD 5 per person per week (beyond 1 week).
  • The Shey Phoksundo National Park entry permit fee, per person, is $30

The Dolpo region is the best and most beautiful for your trekking adventure in the mid-western part of Nepal. Manaslu Circuit Trek is a special trekking route so you need a special trekking permit to visit this area. It means this area is not a normal trekking area like Everest, Langtang, and Annapurna. For the Manaslu Circuit Trek Permit, you can apply the process from a Nepal government-registered trekking company. The rules to get a special trekking permit – A, must be, at least two people in your group. B, Need your original passport with a valid visa from Nepal. C, You and you are the group’s Passport size photos.

Manaslu Circuit Trek Permit Cost

To visit/Trekking- Gorkha Manaslu Region, Chumnubri Rural Municipality (All areas of wards nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4)

  • -       Trekking through September to November, per person- USD 100. Per week. After one week per person- USD 15 per day.
  • -       Trekking through December to August, per person- USD 75 per week. After one week per person- USD 10 per day.

Gorkha Tsum Valley Trek Permit

Tsum Valley Trek is another popular trekking trail in the Manaslu region. It is also a special trekking area so you need a special trekking permit to visit this area. Likewise, the same process as Manaslu Circuit Trek permits to get a permit for this Tsum Valley Trek too. The Permit fee is cheaper than Manaslu Circuit Trek.

To visit/Trekking- Gorkha TsumValley areas Like Sirdibas-Lokpa-Chumling-Chekampar-Nile-Chule and Chumnubri Rural Municipality (All areas of ward nos. 3, 6, and 7)

  • -       Trekking through September to November, per person- USD 40 per week. After one week per person- USD 7 per day.
  • -       Trekking through December to August, per person- USD 30 per week. After one week per person- USD 7 per day.
